Extinction

Taming Process

1. Isolate the Tarbosaurus

  • - Despite being aggressive, they are passive tames

  • - Be sure to leave some things over 150 drag weigh

2. Feed the Tarbosaurus a corpse

  • - Corpse needs to be over 150 drag weight

  • - Tarbosaurus will not accept a corpse of another Tarbosaurus

  • - Watch for the sniff animation and drop the corpse before backing away

  • - NOTE: If you have a shoulder pet or any nearby tamed creature, the Tarbosaurus will ignore the corpse and instead attack you

3. Befriend the Tarbosaurus

  • - After the Tarbosaurus successfully accepts a corpse from you, it will become passive to you

  • - The Tarbosaurus will ask for a number of things to progress the friendly meter (note that you need each kibble as it won't take a higher tier in place)

  • - Pet

  • - Raw Meat

  • - Raw Prime Meat

  • - Raw Mutton

  • - Kibbles

  • - Friendly Icon Meter

  • - The Tarbosaurus will occassionally roar before it wants something

3. Mount up and hunt wild creatures

  • - It will say when it's friendly (Tarbosaurus is technically a Rex variant)

  • - Once the friendly meter is full, the Tarbosaurus tames like a Carcharodontosaurus

  • - Kill things until it tames

  • - Do note that when it fully tames you will be dismounted

4. Conrgats on taming a Tarbosaurus!

Taming Process

1. Kill a Giganotosaurus or Carcharodontosaurus

  • - Evo Gigas are immune to normal tranquilizers and methods

  • - You need to have a Giga Heart in order to tame a Giganotosaurus

  • - If you place the heart in a shoulder pet or mount's inventory, the wild giga will not detect it

  • - Corruppted Gigas are the easiest way to farm hearts as they lack the bleed damage

2. Find your Giganotosaurus

  • - Evo Gigas are just as aggressive as the vanilla Giga

  • - Just having the heart in your player inventory is enough to initiate the taming

  • - Keep the heart on a tame until you find the giga you want to tame or you risk the heart being consumed before you're ready

3. Let the Giga challenge you

  • - The Giga will sniff around when you get close to it with a heart

  • - When it bellows and slams its tail, the challenge is on and the knock out trial has begun

3. Survive the damage until it knocks itself out

  • - Easier said than done, as you will need to tank the bleed as well as the bite and tail swipe attacks

  • - Enraging the Giga will cause it to heal faster, deal more damage, and enables it to use a stomp attack that raising its own torpor by large amounts

Tricks:

  • - Stegos with high quality saddles and veggie cakes can tank a giga for a while

  • - A max blood stacked carcha can tank and heal against the damage

  • - Wyvern Milk prevents the bleed damage

Caution:

  • - The tail swipe can cause massive knock back and if you get hit out of render, you'll have to restart the challenge with another Giga heart

  • - Trapping an Evo Giga before trying to tame it will do you no favors, the Giga will oneshot all structures

4. Once knocked out, tames like a Vanilla Giga

  • - Just like vanilla Gigas, the Evo has rapid torpor drain

  • - If you managed to enrage it often enough during the knock out challenge, its food will be low and should allow it to tame almost instantly

Preferred Foods:

  • Exceptional Kibble

  • Raw Mutton

  • Raw Prime Meat

4. Congratulations, you've tamed a Giganotosaurus!

Engrams & Requirements

  • - Saddle unlocks at Level 96

  • - Saddle Engram Cost: 5 pts

  • - Saddle Crafted in: Smithy

Saddle Resource Costs

  • 350 Fiber

  • 120 Metal Ingots

  • 680 Hide

Abilities & Utility

1. Attacks

  • - Bite Attack: Standard primary bite attack

  • - Tail Swipe: Primary attack key while looking backways

  • - Toggle Turn in Place

  • - Double Stomp: When Enraged, spacebar becomes a high damage stomp attack

  • - Crouch

  • - Cosmetic Roar:

2. Tek Cave

  • - Evo Gigas can crouch with C to crawl into the Tek Cave!

3. Boss Arenas

  • - Evo Gigas are able to go into Boss Arenas

  • - Be wary, however! If you have more than a certain number of Gigas and one Enrages... all of them will Enrage and dismount riders.

  • - The Rage threshold on the Cluster is 6

4. Rage

  • - After taking enough damage quickly, the Giga will rage

  • - The Giga gains a glow to their body (subtle unless it's dark out)

  • - Having more than a set number (6 on our cluster) will cause ALL Evo Gigas to enrage and dismount riders

  • - They will also damage same tribe players/tames as well as allies- and can kill them

  • - During rage, Gigas will heal at a rapid rate, output more damage, and spacebar (on PC) becomes a stomp attack

  • - A raged Giga has a change in idle animations

  • - Heavier breathing, muscle tremors, slightly raised posture

5. Other

  • - Efficient meat harvesters

  • - Wasteland Variant: deals more damage to corrupted creatures

  • - Vanilla Conversion: Evo Gigas can be converted back to vanilla, likewise vanilla Gigas can be converted to Evo

  • - Tek Variant: has not been released yet

  • - Saddle Conversion: Place a saddle in its inventory, click on it, then below 'show ancestors' there will be a conversion option
